She has presented research papers, including one on Participatory Learning. The paper highlights the opportunities, benefits, and explores several methods of Participative Learning for English language teaching.
She has been a proponent of using theatre & arts for language learning. She very successfully used theatre as an extension of classroom activities for language teaching. Prof. Vatsala has been associated with some of the oldest higher education institutions of India, including, Govt. RC College, established in 1948, Vijaya College, established in 1942, and NMKRV College. She has done an M.A.and M.Phil. in English literature from Bangalore University. Her M.Phil. thesis has been on “Improving Reading Skills”.
She is also got her certification for the train the trainer program from Dale Carnegie Institute, and as an NLP practitioner.
